Latvia’s IKEA store to open August 30
On the 30 August, IKEA, the Swedish home furnishing retailer, will open the first store in Latvia. The biggest IKEA store in the Baltics will offer more than 8000 home furnishing products and solutions – everything you need for your home under one roof. 3 days before the store opening, take a look at the new IKEA store and the offer it will bring to Latvia.
“The vision of IKEA is to create a better everyday life for the many people. To achieve it, we offer a wide range of well-designed, functional home furnishing products at prices so low that as many people as possible would be able to afford them. Everything we do at IKEA – from product design, production and distribution is done with the low-price in mind and caring attitude towards our customers,” said IKEA Latvia Store Manager Inga Filipova, while presenting the store to the media representatives.
At the IKEA store the journey of a customer will start in the showroom on the 2nd floor, where more than 50 fully furnished rooms will feature most of the furniture and provide inspiration and solutions for actual homes. The showroom is followed by the market hall where most of home furnishing accessories are located. Finally the visitors will go through the self-service area, where they can pick up the goods. All the products in the store are ready for immediate take-away. At the end of the journey the customer can apply for the services they need to complete the shopping, such as finance services, home delivery, exchange and returns among others.
According to I. Filipova, the new IKEA store will provide a completely different experience for customers: everything needed at home under one roof – from furniture, to decorations, tableware and more. All the furniture is available on the same day, including big furnishing systems like full kitchen.
Inspiration and solutions especially for Latvian residents
According to IKEA Riga Store Manager, a lot of attention was paid to understand the needs of Latvia’s residents and to provide IKEA solutions to meet them, especially such as small-space living, furnishing for a limited budget, storage and organisation solutions for home.
“Before coming to Riga, we carried out more than 30 studies and surveys on how Latvia’s inhabitants are living at home. We investigated what are their living conditions, their challenges, dreams and needs. Based on the conclusions we are providing the solutions and inspirations in the IKEA store for the entire home from kitchens to living rooms, from hallways to bathrooms,” added I. Filipova. The main difference, according to her, is that IKEA does not focus on pieces of furniture alone, it provides furnishing solutions which creates the added value and increases the functionality of home.
“In addition to our wide range of quality home furnishing products and low prices, the IKEA store offers multiple solutions. For example, if you buy a wardrobe, we will suggest systemic storage solutions to get the most functionality out of the wardrobe. Or if you come with the challenge of a small-space living, we will offer you our expertise and inspiration to meet it and make the most of your home,” explained I. Filipova.
A day out for the whole family
IKEA Riga store will be convenient not only for a shopping trip, but also for a day out for the whole family. The store is planned in a way that visitors could not only shop and get inspired, but also have a meal at the IKEA restaurant or let kids play in areas dedicated for them.
“At the IKEA store there is a 450-seat restaurant located between the showroom and the market hall offering a great variety of food, including such famous dishes as Swedish meatballs. At the exit the customers can visit the IKEA Bistro where they can enjoy the well-known hot dogs or ice cream for 0.30 EUR. Special attention is paid to provide a safe and entertaining environment for children: kids between the age of 3 and 7 can visit the supervised play room Småland for free and infants get free food at the IKEA restaurant,” says I. Filipova.
The IKEA store is located at the edge of Riga (Biķeru Street 2, Dreiliņi, Stopiņu Municipality), at the intersection of Juglas Street and Biķernieku Street and it is within a 15-minute drive from Riga city centre. The store operating hours will be 10.00 a.m. – 9.00 p.m., restaurant operating hours will be 9.30 a.m. – 8.30 p.m.
